About This Site

Questions about a Cook County mugshot or recent arrest often turn on which office made or holds the record. The Cook County Sheriff’s Office and Cook County Jail handle county intake, Cook courts document what follows, and the Georgia Department of Corrections covers sentenced state custody. This private reference site brings those official Cook and Georgia sources together in plain language. It hosts no official records, rehosted photos, or mugshot galleries.

Why This Site Exists

The Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. ยงยง 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, gives the public a process for requesting existing records, but a county’s online presence may not offer a searchable booking roster. Cook County’s official sheriff properties currently provide direct office information rather than a verified online roster or recent-booking feed. A jail intake image can also be held by a different agency than the incident or arrest report.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office county page identifies the sheriff’s jail role, while Georgia Attorney General open-records guidance explains how a request for an existing record should work. The Georgia Courts restriction and expungement resource addresses access limits, and the Georgia Department of Corrections offender search covers a different custody stage. These sources are explained here without copying their records or photographs.

What the Pages Explain

The site separates county jail intake from police reports, court records, state prison records, and secondary news coverage. The main subjects are:

  • The Cook County Busted Mugshots home page explains booking records, custody stages, the absence of a verified online roster, written requests and response expectations, the state DOC offender-photo search, and federal alternatives.
  • Most Wanted explains how to check warrant information through the issuing court or sheriff and how to treat public alerts as time-sensitive information.
  • Crime News & Mugshots places Adel News-Tribune, WALB, GBI releases, and unofficial publishers in context, then points from a story to the underlying record and disposition.
  • The Adel, Sparks, and Lenox pages describe each police department’s records path and the county-jail handoff when a person is accepted at Cook County Jail.

What We Do Not Provide

Cook County Busted Mugshots is privately operated. It has no connection with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Cook County Jail, the Georgia Department of Corrections, or any local, state, or federal government agency.

  • It cannot confirm a person’s current custody, release, or transfer.
  • It does not release, retrieve, certify, or host an official booking record or booking photograph.
  • It cannot post bond, manage a jail visit, send money on a visitor’s behalf, or arrange a transfer.
  • It does not give legal advice or predict a court result.
  • It cannot promise that every outside phone number, fee, or address remains current.

Only the originating agency, court, or corrections office can provide official confirmation. A link here is a reference point, not a substitute for that office’s response.

Search Partners

Some search boxes are supplied by third-party providers. Those providers set their own pricing, data practices, and search results. When a tool leads to a paid signup, Cook County Busted Mugshots may receive a referral fee. That affiliate income helps support the private service, but it does not buy a result, change an official record, or give this site control over a partner’s service.
